I actually think you had a chance of getting into SJSU if you applied right out of high school. The SAT score is good. It is harder in general to transfer from a 4 year university to another 4 year university because you dont need to transfer to get a bachelors degree. However, i still suggest that you try because SJSU does take CSU transfers (i guess....) maybe you can also increase your 2.3 GPA before you apply.

I haven't got their, but California has a 3-level college system.

1. Community colleges

2. State colleges

3. University of California.

San Jose state is a state college. They are generally much cheaper and easier to get into than the University of California schools like Berkley.

I went to a similar state college, Cal State Hayward. It was easy to get into.

San Jose State is a very good school and many noteworthy people have graduated from there. As a State College, it is not as difficult to obtain admission. Here is information about its entrance requirements:

b. English

Composition and literature.

c. Mathematics

Algebra, geometry, intermediate algebra; or integrated mathematics.

d. Laboratory Science

g. Elective

1 year required

3. Submit SAT or ACT test scores by Saturday, December 21, 2013

Freshman applicants are required to submit SAT (critical reading and math) or ACT composite scores from a test taken no later than November 2013.

No exceptions! Submit your official scores by the deadline. Failure to do so will result in your application being withdrawn. Request to have your scores sent from the testing agency. Listing your scores on your application will not satisfy this deadline. Please note: the SAT/ACT writing portion is not used for admission or placement purposes.

4. Meet or exceed the minimum GPA and test scores (Eligibility Index or EI)

Your admission to SJSU is based on a combination of the grades you earned in the approved courses (listed in step 2) during your sophomore and junior years and your official SAT/ACT scores. This combined score (eligibility index) is used to determine whether or not you will be admitted to SJSU.
